French authorities investigate incidents in Toulouse and Rodez

Two soldiers from the 17th Parachute Engineer Regiment in Montauban have been detained following an altercation in a Toulouse bar on October 28. Witnesses reported that the men, aged 27 and 30, allegedly performed Nazi salutes and made death threats, including references to the extermination of Jews during World War II. The suspects, who were on leave following a Sentinelle mission, deny the accusations. An investigation is ongoing following searches at their homes.

In a separate incident on November 1, a 28-year-old man was arrested at a mosque in Rodez while carrying two knives. The individual was reportedly heavily intoxicated and claimed he wished to convert to Islam. Local authorities and the Rodez prosecutor's office have stated that there is currently no evidence of a terrorist motive. The man is expected to appear in court for the illegal possession of weapons.
