French banks offer boosted savings account interest rates

Various French banking institutions are offering boosted interest rates on savings accounts as of October 2026. BforBank is providing a promotional rate of 3.5% gross for 12 months for new customers on its Bfor+ savings account, applicable for deposits up to €300,000.

Other market competitors include Fortuneo, which offers a 5.50% gross rate for three months, and Distingo Bank, which offers 4.50% gross for the same period. These rates exceed the Livret A, which remains at a net rate of 1.70%.

The current landscape of high-yield savings accounts is influenced by the European Central Bank's monetary policy, following its decision to raise the deposit rate to 2.50% in September 2026. Investors should note that these gross rates are subject to a flat tax of 31.4%, which significantly impacts the final net yield. Deposits in these accounts are protected by the European deposit guarantee up to €100,000 per person, per bank.
