French biathlon team to hold selection races in Geilo

The French men's biathlon team has finalized part of its roster for the 2026/27 World Cup season. Eric Perrot, the previous Crystal Globe winner, and Quentin Fillon-Maillet, ranked 11th in the general classification, have already secured their spots.

Five additional positions remain to be filled. The selection process will take place during the Sesongstart races in Geilo, Norway, on November 14 and 15. This event was chosen by the French staff to refine snow preparation while determining the squad for the first two World Cup stages in Kontiolahti and Hochfilzen.

Seven athletes are competing for these five remaining spots. The contenders include four members from Group A—Fabien Claude, Émilien Claude, Oscar Lombardot, and Gaëtan Paturel—and three from Group B—Valentin Lejeune, Théo Guiraud-Poillot, and Damien Levet. An extra quota became available following Gaëtan Paturel's victory in the IBU Cup general classification last season. Athletes who do not qualify for the World Cup will compete in the IBU Cup stages in Idre Fjäll, Sweden, and Sjusjøen, Norway.
