French boy released from hospital after Tate Modern fall

A French six‑year‑old on holiday in London was thrown from the 10th‑floor viewing balcony of the Tate Modern art gallery on 4 August 2019 by then‑teenager Jonty Bravery. The fall caused a brain bleed, multiple fractures and long‑term disability, and the boy has spent nearly seven years in intensive rehabilitation.

In August 2026 his family announced that he has been discharged from hospital, returned briefly to school and is smiling again. A GoFundMe campaign set up by Surrey nurse Vicky Diplacto raised over £500,000 to cover his medical costs. He continues physiotherapy, speech therapy and neuropsychology, and his family plans a tandem paragliding flight, a seaside holiday and adaptive swimming lessons to celebrate his recovery.
