French broadcaster TF1 eyes sale of Studio TF1, valuation around €400 million

French media group TF1 is evaluating the disposal of its production and distribution unit, Studio TF1 (formerly Newen Studios). The move aims to sharpen the company's focus on its streaming platform TF1+. TF1 has engaged Rothschild to run the early‑stage sale process, with a potential price tag of about €400 million.

The contemplated transaction reflects a broader trend in European broadcasting, where groups are separating content creation from linear and streaming operations. TF1’s advertising revenue fell 8.7% year‑on‑year to €714 million in the first half of 2026, pressured by a weak ad market and uncertainty linked to the Middle‑East conflict. The sale could bolster TF1’s financial capacity for future deals, including a possible bid for rival broadcaster M6. Studio TF1 produces dramas, movies, documentaries and other programmes across Europe, the United States and Canada.
