French broadcasters honor filmmaker Jean-Paul Rappeneau

French television networks have adjusted their programming to honor the memory of filmmaker Jean-Paul Rappeneau, who passed away in early September 2026 at the age of 94.

Arte has rescheduled its programming to broadcast Rappeneau’s 2003 film ‘Bon voyage’ on Sunday, September 6, replacing the previously scheduled film ‘Le Cardinal’. Other networks have also participated in the tribute; 6ter aired ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’, and France 5 broadcast ‘Le Sauvage’.

‘Bon voyage’, which features a screenplay co-written by Patrick Modiano, is a stylized comedy set during the 1940 French collapse. The film stars Isabelle Adjani, Gérard Depardieu, and Virginie Ledoyen. Originally, Rappeneau had intended for Sophie Marceau to play the lead role, but she was replaced by Adjani due to her pregnancy at the time of production.
