French châteaux highlight historical heritage and the Loire Valley

France possesses approximately 45,000 castles, ranging from small country manors to world-renowned royal residences. Among these historical sites, the Château de Beauregard in the Loire Valley stands out for its unique Galerie des Illustres.

Constructed in its current form during the 17th century, the gallery features 327 portraits of famous historical figures representing 26 different nationalities. The collection traces 315 years of political history from 1328 to 1643. The gallery is noted for its lapis-lazuli ceiling and a floor composed of 5,600 Delft tiles. A major restoration project for the site was completed in 2023. The estate also includes a 40-hectare landscaped park.
