French cinema updates: New film releases and documentary milestones

The French film industry is highlighting upcoming cinematic releases. The crime comedy ‘Le Crime du 3e étage’ (English title: ‘Murder In The Building’), directed by Rémi Bezançon, is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 14, 2027. Starring Gilles Lellouche, Laetitia Casta, and Guillaume Gallienne, the film follows a film history professor who suspects her neighbor of murder.

In another development, the documentary ‘Heart of Light – Eleven Songs for Fiji’ is noted for its long production history. Director Cynthia Bea describes the project as a forty-year maturation process aimed at capturing the authentic rhythms and complexities of Fiji from an internal perspective, rather than an external or idyllic one.
