French court postpones majority of criminal cases to 2027

A significant majority of criminal cases scheduled for a recent court session have been postponed to March or April 2027. Out of 19 cases listed on the docket, most were deferred by the presiding judge, who cited the need to replace a judge assigned elsewhere and insufficient time to review the extensive caseload.

The delays affect a wide range of serious offenses, including sexual assaults on minors, violent thefts, domestic violence, and manslaughter involving driving under the influence. For many victims, these postponements mean waiting several additional months or years for their cases to be heard.
