French courts issue sentences for grenade incident and stalking
The Rennes Court of Appeal has increased the sentence for a man from Camors to three years in prison for throwing a modified grenade in front of a residence in Baud, Morbihan, in November 2024. The device, which had been modified with a larger explosive charge, failed to detonate only because the firing mechanism was interrupted. The defendant and his brother were also ordered to pay €2,000 in damages for moral prejudice.
In a separate case in Côtes-d'Armor, a man from Louannec was sentenced to one year in prison for the persistent harassment of his former partner. The defendant utilized a GPS tracker hidden in the victim's vehicle to monitor her movements in real time and engaged in physical surveillance of her home and workplace. The harassment included excessive messaging and physical violence, as the individual refused to accept the end of the relationship.
