French cultural events explore themes of power and resistance
Cultural institutions in France are hosting events focused on the themes of power and resistance. The second edition of the Festival de la Fiction Politique took place from October 1 to 3 at the Cinémas du Palais de Créteil. Organized by historians Pierre-Emmanuel Guigo and Sébastien Repaire in collaboration with the Université Paris-Est Créteil, the festival utilized film and political series to explore various forms of resistance against oppression, including totalitarianism, dictatorship, and patriarchy.
Additionally, the Châteauvallon-Liberté national stage is presenting its 53rd theme, titled ‘Le Pouvoir’ (Power), running from October to December. The program examines the mechanisms of authority and its societal effects through various performances, conferences, and exhibitions. A central piece of this programming is the theatrical saga ‘Huit rois (nos présidents)’ by Léo Cohen-Paperman, which provides a theatrical portrait of the eight presidents of the French Fifth Republic.
