French cultural festivals feature comedy in Alès and theater in Sarthe

Various cultural events are taking place in France, including a comedy competition in Alès and a theater festival in Sarthe.

The 8th edition of the Challenge de l’humour in Alès will hold its final on August 18 at the Bosquet greenery theater. Under the direction of Jean-Lou Chaffre, the competition has shifted toward a more professional format to attract experienced comedians. Eight finalists will compete for the title, and Thierry Garcia, an impressionist known for his work with 'Les Guignols de l'info', will serve as a guest judge and perform a sketch.

In Sarthe, the theater collective 'Les Assoiffés d’azur' is hosting its 8th annual outdoor theater festival from August 20 to 29 in Clermont-Créans. The festival features 28 performances across five different plays, including works by Joël Pommerat and Bertolt Brecht. The program includes diverse formats, such as a 2.5-kilometer theatrical hike and an immersive opera-themed production.
