Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle to host art and science exhibition

To celebrate its 400th anniversary, the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle will host the exhibition ‘Artistes au Muséum’ at the Grande Galerie de l’Évolution from September 23, 2026, to March 7, 2027. The exhibition features over 300 works by more than 120 artists across 880 square meters, exploring the historical intersection of art and natural sciences.

The exhibition is organized into three main sections. The first highlights artists who collaborated with the Museum, including naturalists and painters such as Eugène Delacroix and Gustave Moreau. The second section examines the evolution of scientific imagery, from early drawings and botanical vellums to photography and microscopy. The final section functions as an art gallery, showcasing works by figures such as Salvador Dalí, Alberto Giacometti, Robert Doisneau, and Sarah Moon, alongside animal sculptures by François Pompon.

Beyond visual arts, the event explores how storytelling, literature, and comics serve as tools for understanding and transmitting knowledge about the living world. The program also includes contemporary artists focused on biodiversity preservation and commemorates the Bicentennial of Photography.
