French cultural venues host new theatrical and opera productions

Cultural venues in France are hosting diverse theatrical and operatic performances. At La Pyramide in Bagnols-sur-Cèze, the Théâtre du Kronope will present an adaptation of Victor Hugo’s ‘Les Misérables’ on October 16. Directed by Guy Simon and adapted by Christiane Craviatto, the production features six performers acting as acrobats and dancers, using masks to portray approximately fifty different roles.

In Lyon, the Opéra de Lyon has opened its 2026-2027 season with Sergei Prokofiev’s ‘L’Amour des trois oranges’. Directed by Laurent Pelly and conducted by Dmitry Matvienko, this production is a whimsical tale inspired by commedia dell’arte. The performance is scheduled to run in Lyon until October 20, with subsequent appearances planned for Paris, Strasbourg, and Mulhouse.
