French cyclists Victor Lafay and Baptiste Huyet retire from professional cycling

Two French professional cyclists, Victor Lafay and Baptiste Huyet, are ending their careers in professional road racing.

Victor Lafay, formerly of Cofidis and Unibet Rose Rockets, is finishing his career after a season without competitive racing. Despite a breakthrough performance in San Sebastián in 2023, Lafay struggled with injuries, illness, and concentration issues, leading to a lack of new contract offers following his time with Unibet Rose Rockets.

Baptiste Huyet, 26, is also retiring from high-level cycling after his most recent season with the German team BIKE AID. Huyet, who previously rode for Unibet Rose Rockets, announced his departure from the sport via social media, stating he intends to transition into long-distance triathlon. He plans to compete in the Alpe d'Huez and Gérardmer races in 2027 with the Stade de Reims Triathlon.
