French departments implement school support and climate adaptation measures
French departmental councils are implementing various measures to support students and modernize facilities for the new school year.
In Bouches-du-Rhône, the department is providing financial relief to families by distributing complete school supply kits to all middle school students. This includes essential items such as notebooks, pens, and rulers. Additionally, students entering the 6ème grade will receive a scientific calculator, a measure intended to save families approximately 800 euros.
In the Alpes-Maritimes region, the departmental council has focused on infrastructure and environmental adaptation. Approximately 9 million euros have been invested this year in projects related to the ‘Green deal’ and the ‘Collège 2028’ plan. These works include energy renovations and the greening of schoolyards to improve student comfort and adapt to climate change. These improvements affect nearly 45,000 middle school students across 72 public establishments.
