French DJ Kavinsky found dead in Paris at age 50

Vincent Belorgey, known as the French synth‑wave DJ Kavinsky, was discovered dead in his Paris apartment on the night of 28 July 2026. He was 50 years old and would have turned 51 three days later.

French prosecutors opened an inquiry into the cause of death after first‑responders reported “no suspicious elements” at the scene. Early media reports mention a possible cerebrovascular accident (stroke) as a leading hypothesis.

Kavinsky was internationally renowned for his 2010 track “Nightcall”, which was featured in the 2011 film Drive. He later performed a refreshed version of the song at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games together with Belgian singer Angèle and French band Phoenix.

President Emmanuel Macron and Culture Minister Catherine Pégard posted tributes, calling the artist a source of French pride and praising his singular artistic contribution. Numerous musicians and fans worldwide expressed condolences on social media.
