French DJ Kavinsky (Vincent Belorgey) dies at 50 in Paris

Vincent Belorgey, known worldwide as DJ Kavinsky, was found dead in his apartment in Paris's 18th arrondissement on 29 July 2026, a day before his 51st birthday. The French Minister of Culture, Catherine Pégard, confirmed the death on 30 July. Authorities have opened an investigation; no evidence of foul play has been reported and a cause of death has not yet been announced.

Tributes poured in from friends and public figures, including actor Nicolas Duvauchelle, singer Angèle, The Weeknd and President Emmanuel Macron, who praised his influence on electronic music. Kavinsky’s former partner, fashion designer Gaëlle Constantini, broke her silence on Instagram on 3 August, thanking supporters and asking for patience with her own brand while she copes with the loss. Media reports note that Kavinsky had complained of severe headaches in the days before his death, leading to speculation about a possible cardiovascular event, but the investigation remains ongoing.
