French e‑sport festivals attract youth in Saint Martin and Amiens

The SXM Esport Festival was held on 25 July in Marigot, the French part of Saint Martin. Sixty‑eight gamers entered competitions in FC 26, Tekken and Super Smash Bros, with the event organised by the local ANIS association and sponsored by Orange. trophies for "Champion of Saint‑Martin" were awarded, and the day featured a giant screen, local cultural performances and support from the Territorial Olympic and Sports Committee.

In Amiens, France, the Association Profession Sport et Loisirs (APSL 80) staged a combined chase‑tag and e‑sport tournament on 21 July, funded by the city's "quartier d’été" summer programme. The project, overseen by sport officer Julien Prost, aimed to bring together young people from different neighbourhoods, offering both physical chase‑tag races and video‑game competition finals. The initiative was presented as a way to encourage activity, reduce social isolation and promote local community engagement.
