French Film Festival returns to Cuba with 17 films

The 27th edition of the French Film Festival in Cuba is scheduled to run from October 22 to November 4. Organized by the French Embassy, the Cuban Institute of Art and Film Industry (ICAIC), and the Cinemateca de Cuba, the event will feature 17 films spanning drama, comedy, and animation.

For the first time, the festival will expand its reach beyond Havana to include other major cities across the island. The opening film will be ‘Los niños de la resistencia’ (The Resistance Children) by Christophe Barratier, a story about children involved in clandestine operations during the Nazi occupation of France.

French Ambassador Raphaël Trannoy noted that the festival serves as a vital cultural link between the two nations, despite the current energy crisis and material limitations facing Cuban cinemas. The program includes a specific focus on youth through four animated productions.
