French flagship container ship CMA CGM NOTRE DAME arrives at Tangier-Med port
The LNG‑powered container vessel CMA CGM NOTRE DAME, one of the world’s largest ships with a 24,000‑TEU capacity, docked on Monday at the second container terminal (TC2) of Tangier‑Med, Morocco’s main Mediterranean port operated by Eurogate. The vessel, which entered service in May 2026, will run regular voyages on the France‑Asia‑Europe corridor (FAL 3) and underscores Tangier‑Med’s role as a strategic hub for French shipping group CMA CGM.
CMA CGM Morocco chief executive Florian Goubel said the port is a “strategic partner and a key node in our global network,” noting the ship’s contribution to decarbonising maritime transport. Tangier‑Med’s marine operations director Adel Ait Wleil highlighted the port’s capability to handle mega‑vessels, reporting 17,000 calls in 2025, including 1,300 ships over 290 m in length, and stressed ongoing digitalisation and service quality. Ship captain Marine‑Caroline Guy described the docking as “model‑like,” praising the port’s guidance services. A ceremony marked the event with an exchange of commemorative plaques between the ship’s crew and the port’s pilotage authority.
