French Football Federation skips Deschamps tribute to focus on Zidane era

Didier Deschamps Zinedine Zidane French Football Federation France national football team Al-Ahli

The French Football Federation (FFF) has announced it will not hold any official ceremonies to honor former national team coach Didier Deschamps during the upcoming FIFA international break. The decision is intended to ensure the squad remains focused on the new era under current manager Zinedine Zidane as France prepares to face Italy and Belgium in Saint-Denis.

While Zidane has implemented a completely new coaching staff, former Deschamps staff member Franck Raviot has returned to the FFF, joining the National Technical Direction (DTN) to train young goalkeepers and coaches.

Meanwhile, Didier Deschamps remains unattached following his departure after the 2026 World Cup. Despite interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, which reportedly offered a three-year contract worth 10 million euros net, Deschamps has not accepted a new role. He is expected to wait for an opportunity that aligns with his professional ambitions before returning to the sidelines.
