French football league hosts firefighters, club launches footgolf
The Ligue de Football Nouvelle‑Aquitaine opened its Centre Technique Regional in Haillan to accommodate roughly 50 sapeurs‑pompiers fighting the wildfires that have ravaged the Gironde department. The move, coordinated with the departmental fire service (SDIS 33) and state authorities, provides lodging and logistical support while the league’s administrative staff continue their duties remotely.
Separately, Stade Poitevin Omnisports created a footgolf section under the direction of Stéphane Bitaudeau. The inaugural group of about twenty players trains on a private pitch while plans progress for an 18‑hole, officially homologated course at the Golf de Mignaloux‑Beauvoir. The club already competed in the French Cup and aims to expand the discipline through regional tournaments and school outreach.
