French football updates: AS Saint-Étienne and FC Metz news

In French football, AS Saint-Étienne manager Ian Cathro addressed the club's decision not to recruit a left-back during the summer transfer window. Despite the position being identified as a need, Cathro and Kilmer Sports opted against a signing because they did not find a player who met their specific expectations. Cathro expressed satisfaction with the current squad, noting that players like Maxime Bernauer and Ben Old provide viable solutions for the left flank.

Meanwhile, FC Metz manager Luc Holtz provided an update ahead of their match against Rodez. While most of the squad is available, including the return of Jonathan Fischer and Idriss Mohamed, the club is managing the recovery of young attacker Joseph Mangondo. Mangondo, who recently signed his first professional contract, is currently dealing with a pubic injury that has delayed his return to full competition following a previous knee injury.
