French fry preservation exports fall 11% in July

French fry preservation exports fell by 11% in July 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, totaling 130,000 tonnes, according to the CNIPT. Despite the drop in volume, the market value saw a 16% increase, indicating a significant shift in market dynamics during the inter-campaign period.

Export destinations showed varying trends. While shipments to Belgium fell by 12% (89,574 tonnes), exports to Spain rose by 40% (14,923 tonnes) and to Germany rose by 19% (10,666 tonnes). Conversely, Portugal and the Netherlands experienced sharp declines of 74% and 45%, respectively.

For the full campaign spanning August 2025 to July 2026, total export volumes decreased by 24% compared to the previous year, though the overall campaign volume was down by 6% due to the record-breaking nature of the preceding year.
