French government officials' data leaked in major cyberattack

A major cyberattack on the lingerie retailer Le Slip français has resulted in the theft of personal data belonging to 1.5 million customers, including high-ranking French government officials.

Reports indicate that the personal information of 25 out of 36 members of the French government is currently circulating online. Among those affected is Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, whose personal phone number was leaked following a 2024 order placed while he served as Minister of the Armed Forces. Other officials have also had sensitive data compromised through different breaches, such as Anne Le Hénanff, whose social security number and bank details were leaked, and Catherine Vautrin, whose home address was exposed following a hack of an optician in Reims.

This incident follows a series of significant cyberattacks in France, including a massive breach of the national tax website earlier this year that compromised the data of approximately 700,000 individuals. Studies suggest France remains one of the most targeted countries in Europe for such cyber incidents.
