France plans to extend fuel subsidies and energy vouchers
The French government is working to extend financial aid for fuel and energy costs to mitigate the impact of high prices on workers and specific industries. Maud Bregeon, government spokesperson and Minister Delegate for Energy, announced that the executive is planning to renew subsidies for sectors most exposed to fuel price volatility, including farmers, fishers, construction workers, and transporters.
These fuel aids, which include a 100 euro payment for low-income long-distance commuters, are currently set to expire on August 31. The government also intends to propose the renewal of the ‘chèque énergie’ (energy voucher) in the 2027 budget to assist low-income households facing high energy costs.
Separately, potential beneficiaries of the 2026 energy voucher are being advised to monitor their emails, as those who did not receive automatic payments may be contacted between August 31 and September 4. Authorities have also issued warnings regarding fraudulent emails and SMS messages attempting to steal banking information under the guise of energy aid administration.
