French graphic novels announce upcoming 2026 releases

Several upcoming French graphic novel releases have been announced for 2026, showcasing diverse artistic styles and themes.

Saïd Sassine, with script support from JC Deveney, will release ‘Portraits de Persil’ on September 16, 2026. The work follows Lina, a painter who seeks serenity in the countryside, only to encounter a plant-like centaur named Persil. The story explores themes of nature, independence, and emancipation from societal constraints.

Additionally, Nicolas Debon is set to release ‘La Montagne d’encre’ on May 29, 2026. Moving away from his previous sports-focused works, this contemplative album focuses on flora, fauna, and landscapes. Influenced by Japanese prints and haikus, the book offers a minimalist, visual experience centered on the changing seasons and the natural world.
