French hospitals face crisis as heatwaves cause patient deaths

The heat has also forced the cancellation of surgical operations due to overheated operating theaters. Furthermore, Mathieu Collart of the CGT union noted that essential medications, such as chemotherapy, have had to be discarded because pharmacy refrigerators could not maintain the necessary temperatures.
