French investment targets Mato Grosso do Sul agribusiness
French companies are seeking to invest in the agribusiness sector of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, with a specific focus on the production of essential oils. OLaboratoire Altho plans to establish an industrial unit in the state to produce essential oils from the leaves of organic bitter orange (Citrus aurantium).
Thomas Rostaing, CEO of OLaboratoire Altho, stated that the initiative aims to introduce the region to the international aromatherapy market through high-value, organically certified products. The project is expected to include technology transfer, potentially creating new income opportunities for small rural producers.
This investment is part of a broader trend of French interest in Mato Grosso do Sul's productive chains. Additionally, negotiations are reportedly underway with Cooperl, a major French swine cooperative, regarding the local pig farming sector. The development of the Bioceanic Route is also cited as a factor enhancing the region's attractiveness for international logistics and processing investments.
