The 33rd Bayeux War Correspondents Awards, presided over by BBC reporter Lyse Doucet, heavily featured reporting on the conflicts in Gaza and the West Bank. Palestinian freelance photographer Mahmoud Abu Hamda secured the top photography prize (the Nikon Prize) and the Public's Choice award for his series ‘What War Leaves Behind’, which documents destruction and human suffering in the Gaza Strip.
Other major winners included Anas Baba of NPR, who received the radio award for his report on the recovery of victims' bodies in Gaza, and Jehad Alshrafi of the Associated Press, who won the Young Reporter award. In the print category, Siobhán O'Grady and her Ukrainian colleagues from The Washington Post were honored for their coverage of a soldier trapped on the front lines in Ukraine. CNN also received recognition in the television and video image categories for its reporting on the West Bank.
