French media groups announce major ecological transition milestones
France Télévisions has unveiled its ecological transition plan to align with the Paris Agreement. The group reported a 2025 carbon footprint of 532,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, with approximately two-thirds of emissions stemming from content broadcasting and consumption (IPTV, TNT, and television usage) and one-third from core business activities such as program procurement and travel.
Since 2021, the group has already achieved an 11% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The new strategy aims for a 19% reduction between 2025 and 2031, targeting a total decrease of 28% compared to 2021 levels.
Separately, the EBRA Group, a leader in French regional daily press, has received a gold medal from EcoVadis with a score of 83/100. This places the group in the top 5% of companies globally for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). EBRA has reduced its carbon emissions by 44% since 2021, utilizes 100% green electricity, and prints all newspapers using recycled paper and vegetable inks.
