French media undergoes shifts ahead of 2027 presidential election
The French media landscape is undergoing significant shifts ahead of the 2027 presidential election. On BFMTV, the launch of Sonia Mabrouk’s new program, ‘100% Mabrouk’, has sparked internal tension. Journalists and unions, including the SNJ and CGT, have criticized her editorial choices, alleging she is importing the opinion-heavy style of CNews by hosting controversial figures. Mabrouk has defended herself, stating she prefers ‘frank conversations to cowardice.’
Simultaneously, Léa Salamé has stepped down from presenting the 20:00 news on France 2 to maintain journalistic ethics following the announcement of her partner Raphaël Glucksmann’s presidential candidacy. She is being temporarily replaced by Jean-Baptiste Marteau.
Other major networks are also adjusting their programming for the upcoming election cycle. France Télévisions is reviving the political show ‘L’Heure de vérité’, while TF1 and CNews are also preparing specialized coverage to address the shifting political climate.
