French mobile operators expand EU roaming services with 5G and unlimited data
Bouygues Telecom has published a guide for French subscribers travelling across Europe, outlining 5G access in more than 150 destinations under the EU roaming regulation, data‑usage controls, and the "Internet Facile" feature that suspends billing once a quota is reached.
Free Mobile explains its roaming options in Belgium, noting that the country is part of the EU free‑roaming zone. The Free Max plan provides unlimited data and voice services, while the Free 5G+ plan offers a 35 GB allowance. Free relies on local Belgian networks Proximus, Orange and Telenet to deliver coverage, and no additional roaming fees apply.
Both operators highlight steps for users to manage data consumption abroad, such as disabling background updates, using Wi‑Fi for backups, and monitoring usage via their apps. The information aims to help French customers avoid unexpected charges while benefiting from seamless 5G connectivity throughout the European Union.
