French municipalities face burglaries and identity theft
Several French municipalities are facing waves of criminal activity, including burglaries and digital fraud.
In Domagné, Ille-et-Vilaine, residents have reported daytime burglaries. The local government has also issued warnings regarding identity theft, noting that scammers are impersonating the town hall via email. These fraudulent messages target local businesses, requesting changes to bank details and the suspension of automatic payments under the guise of accounting updates.
In Eydoche, Isère, the town hall and local post office were burglarized during the night of October 14-15. Perpetrators caused significant damage to the building and used fire extinguishers to cover their tracks with powder, complicating the investigation by the gendarmerie. Mayor Christelle Bugeau reported that this is the second burglary in four months, forcing the temporary closure of the municipal offices.
