French municipalities host activities for Semaine Bleue
Several French municipalities are organizing events for the ‘Semaine Bleue’ (Blue Week), a national initiative dedicated to retirees and senior citizens. The program, running from October 5 to 9, focuses on social connection, intergenerational sharing, and well-being.
In Coulounieix-Chamiers, the town is participating for the second consecutive year as part of its ‘Age-Friendly City’ designation. The local program includes cinema, walking, shared meals, and intergenerational hikes. Mayor Thierry Cipierre noted that with seniors making up 40% of the population, the municipality is prioritizing mobility, security, and housing through a 2025-2028 action plan.
In Canteleu, the city and its CCAS Autonomy service have organized a diverse schedule featuring theater, virtual reality experiences, dance, floral arts, and laughter yoga. Activities are designed to promote autonomy and conviviality, including open houses at the rehabilitated Résidence Autonomie Aragon and adaptive cycling sessions.
