French municipalities prepare for new school year
Municipalities in France are preparing for the 2026-2027 school year with various local initiatives. In Caveirac, officials welcomed students following several years of school maintenance and renovations designed to improve learning environments.
The municipality is expanding support services, including increasing evening study groups from three to five and maintaining flexible reservation systems for morning and evening extracurricular care. School meals will continue to be overseen by a dietitian, utilizing organic and high-quality products in compliance with the Egalim law, which requires one vegetarian meal per week.
In Verdun-sur-Garonne, staff including catering agents, ATSEMs, and animators held preparation sessions. These included specialized training led by the Pôle Ressources Handicap 82 regarding the reception and support of children with special needs and managing challenging behaviors. Coordination efforts between municipal staff and the MJC have been finalized to ensure schools are ready for the students' return.
