French overseas territories face new media coverage and EU policy debates
France Télévisions is launching a new weekly program titled ‘L’heure des Outre-mer’ starting September 13. Hosted by journalist Kessy Weishaupt-Tahi, the show will air on franceinfo and other network channels to provide in-depth analysis of news regarding French overseas territories, covering topics such as public policy, economy, and environment.
Simultaneously, discussions are intensifying regarding the role of overseas territories within European policy. Key issues include the European Commission’s new strategy for outermost regions and the impact of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on these territories. Discussions at the European Parliament have focused on how industrial accelerator acts and carbon adjustment mechanisms will affect the competitiveness and sovereignty of these specific regions.
