French para-cyclists secure gold at World Championships
Alexandre Léauté and Tifany Huot-Marchand secured France’s first medals at the 2026 Para-cycling Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Léauté won the C2 scratch race, marking his 17th track world title after leading the race from six laps remaining.
Huot-Marchand earned her first international medal by winning the C3 scratch race. She secured the victory via a photo-finish against China’s Wang Xiaomei. Huot-Marchand, a former short-track speed skater, previously faced severe medical prognoses following a spinal injury in 2022.
Separately, French para-cyclist Thomas Peyroton-Dartet has received a provisional suspension following an abnormal test for EPO. The sample was collected on September 5, 2026, during the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Huntsville, Alabama. Peyroton-Dartet, a gold medalist at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, has the right to contest the suspension or request a B-sample analysis.
