French parliamentary leaders refuse to disclose mandate expense records

In France, the presidents of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, and the Senate, Gérard Larcher, have refused requests to disclose accounting documents regarding parliamentary mandate expenses. The association Transparence Citoyenne sought access to these justifications to verify how taxpayer funds—estimated at approximately 5,900 euros per month per parliamentarian—are being utilized.

Following this refusal, the association has initiated legal proceedings before the competent authorities. The dispute highlights a debate over the transparency of public resource usage and the accountability of high-ranking institutional leaders compared to the general public.
