French police arrest suspects in Annemasse theft and Vendée kidnapping attempt

Police in France have arrested two men in connection with separate criminal incidents.

In Annemasse, a 59-year-old man was apprehended after breaking a car window with a metal object to steal a flashlight and glasses. The suspect, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol, was also being investigated for a separate theft involving violence committed in late September. He is scheduled to appear before the Thonon court on October 8.

In the Vendée region, a 63-year-old man has been taken into custody following an attempted kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl in Les Herbiers. The incident occurred on September 24 when the suspect allegedly tried to force the teenager into his vehicle, an act interrupted by a passerby. The suspect has been placed in provisional detention and is awaiting a hearing before a liberty and detention judge.
