France police officer investigated after 14-year-old injured in protest

A French police officer is under official investigation after a 14-year-old boy, Eden, was seriously injured during student protests in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône. Video footage shows the officer firing a projectile from a grenade launcher at close range, striking the teenager in the face.

The victim sustained a double jaw fracture and significant dental injuries, requiring surgery that has left him unable to speak and reliant on a straw for nutrition. The officer has been placed under judicial supervision and is prohibited from performing police duties pending the investigation into violence and mutilation.

The incident occurred amidst widespread protests in France regarding teacher shortages and educational conditions. The French Ministry of Higher Education and Research reported that these demonstrations have disrupted approximately 40 percent of the country's higher education institutions.
