French President Emmanuel Macron begins final summer vacation at Fort de Brégançon

President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived at the Fort de Brégançon on 29 July for their traditional summer retreat, marking the last vacation of Macron’s second term before the 2027 presidential election. The first ten days are expected to be devoted to family, with Brigitte’s daughters Laurence and Tiphaine Auzière likely joining the couple.

While on holiday, Macron will continue to monitor national issues such as the Gironde wildfires and remain reachable for government business. His routine includes morning jogging, occasional boxing sessions, and leisure activities like swimming and using a Seabob. The fort also serves as a venue for diplomatic meetings, having hosted leaders such as Theresa May, Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel, and it has been used to coordinate responses to crises ranging from Covid‑19 to the Ukraine conflict.
