French prosecutors investigate calls to kill Muslims on X

The Paris Prosecutor's Office has launched an official investigation into explicit calls to kill Muslims discovered within a conversation group on the social media platform X. The investigation is targeting suspected incitement to hatred or violence and calls to commit terrorist acts.

The investigation follows actions by Thomas Port, a deputy from the La France Insoumise party, who shared excerpts of the group's conversations on X on October 25. The messages reportedly included racist rhetoric, such as “this is not an Arab country” and suggestions to target people during street prayers, including statements that “a large number of people must be killed.”

This legal action comes shortly after an attack in the Yvelines department on October 23, which resulted in one death and seven injuries. French President Emmanuel Macron previously described that incident as having a terrorist and racist character, contributing to heightened social and political tensions in the country.
