French rapper Doums trial postponed to May 2027

The Créteil criminal court has postponed the trial of rapper Doums, whose real name is Mamadou Coulibaly, to May 12, 2027. The artist faces allegations of domestic violence against a former partner occurring between December 2020 and September 2026.

The postponement follows a request from the defense, arguing that only three weeks had passed between the end of Coulibaly’s police custody and the hearing, which they deemed insufficient time to prepare a defense. Conversely, lawyers for the victim requested additional information, specifically a medico-psychiatric examination to re-evaluate the victim's total incapacity for work (ITT).

Coulibaly was taken into custody in Vitry-sur-Seine in late September following complaints of repeated death threats. While he was released without security measures, a family court judge issued a protection order in early October prohibiting him from contacting his former partner and their two children, as well as from carrying a weapon. The defense has appealed this order.

This case follows a previous conviction in February, where Coulibaly received an eight-month suspended prison sentence for separate incidents involving the same individual.
