French regional authorities launch mobility planning initiatives
Regional authorities in France are seeking public engagement regarding future transportation and mobility strategies.
In the Cœur de Loire territory, residents are invited to join the Mobility Partners Committee. This committee facilitates dialogue between employers, residents, and associations concerning transport issues, service quality, and pricing policies. Candidates must be adults residing in the territory and must commit to attending two annual meetings as unpaid volunteers until 2032. Applications are open until October 9, with seven representatives to be selected via a lottery on October 13.
Simultaneously, the Syndicat des Mobilités de Touraine (SMT) has launched a public inquiry for its 2026-2036 Mobility Plan. Running from September 28 to October 28, 2026, the inquiry allows inhabitants, businesses, and students to review and comment on a strategic document covering 25 communes. The plan aims to promote alternative transport services to reduce reliance on individual cars and protect the environment. Feedback will be collected through digital and paper registers, as well as during meetings with an investigating commissioner.
