French retailers Intermarché and E.Leclerc suffer data breaches

French retail companies Intermarché and E.Leclerc have both experienced data breaches affecting customer information.

Intermarché reported a leak through its Drive service, exposing the personal data of 287,605 customers. Experts note that the retail sector is a frequent target due to the massive volume of loyalty programs, order histories, and online accounts.

E.Leclerc experienced a breach via LCommerce, the entity managing its customer service, following a cyberattack on one of its external logistics partners. Compromised information includes names, first names, email addresses, and phone numbers. The company stated that sensitive data, such as banking information, login credentials, and passwords, were not affected. The incident has been reported to the CNIL in accordance with GDPR regulations.
