French rugby clubs adopt La Plagne for training as RC Vannes moves major match to Rennes

The French ski resort La Plagne has emerged as a premier destination for professional rugby clubs conducting summer preseason training. This season, five clubs, including three Top 14 teams—Grenoble, Oyonnax, Vannes, Castres, and Clermont—have utilized the station's facilities at altitudes exceeding 2,000 meters.

The resort has specifically invested in high-level infrastructure to meet professional demands, including a natural grass pitch designed with specialized drainage and a gym facility built directly adjacent to the field at the request of RC Vannes. While altitude is a factor, clubs emphasize that the primary benefits are the change of environment and the ability to foster group cohesion through dedicated training camps.

In related news regarding RC Vannes, the club has announced that its highly anticipated Top 14 match against Stade Toulousain, scheduled for September 19, will be relocated from its home stadium, La Rabine, to the Roazhon Park in Rennes. This move aims to accommodate higher spectator demand, moving from a capacity of approximately 12,000 to nearly 30,000 seats to maximize economic revenue.
