French Rugby Federation updates school training and safety
As the 2026-2027 season begins, the French Rugby Federation (FFR) is implementing significant updates to its rugby school (EDR) model. The initiative focuses on three primary pillars: strengthening the certification process, restructuring female youth participation, and prioritizing player safety.
More than 1,000 schools across France have obtained official labeling, ranging from one to three stars. This certification ensures standardized quality in coaching, family reception, and sports pedagogy. The FFR aims to use these high standards to retain young players and provide a consistent educational framework through trained educators and adapted equipment.
Health and safety remain central to the new season. The federation is emphasizing preventive measures, including the integration of mandatory protocols such as the ‘Passeport du Joueur’ for more advanced training categories to ensure player well-being.
