Trade Republic launches Livret A in France via AXA Banque partnership

German neobank Trade Republic has expanded its services in France by offering the Livret A, a regulated savings account, directly through its mobile application. The product is provided in partnership with AXA Banque. The account offers a state-fixed interest rate of 1.7%, which has been in effect since August 1, 2026, and remains exempt from income tax and social security contributions.

This move is part of Trade Republic’s strategy to transition from a specialized brokerage for ETFs and crypto into a primary banking provider for French users. The company reported exceeding 400,000 equity savings plans (PEA) in France following its arrival in 2025.

Financial experts note that while the Livret A offers high security and liquidity, users wishing to switch providers must first close their existing account, as French law prohibits individuals from holding more than one Livret A. Other low-risk savings options in France include the Livret d'Épargne Populaire (LEP) at 2.5% and euro funds within life insurance contracts, which may offer gross returns between 1% and 5.5% in 2026 depending on market conditions and commercial bonuses.
